On 20 October 2026, Boeing announced that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration had certified the 737-10, the largest member of the 737 MAX family. The approval clears a regulatory hurdle toward customer deliveries.

Boeing says the certification programme included nearly 1,000 flights, more than 2,000 flight-test hours and 1,000 hours of ground testing, alongside safety and design reviews.

Alaska Airlines welcomed the decision the same day. The airline expects its first MAX 10 delivery in the second quarter of 2027 and plans Aurora lie-flat suites on at least 25 aircraft. These are the airline’s stated plans, rather than confirmation that the aircraft is already in passenger service.
